NSSEA and ASTRA Collaborate on 2009 Event

NSSEA and the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association (ASTRA) will join forces for next year’s ASTRA Marketplace & Academy, June 13 through 17, 2009, in St. Paul, Minnesota at the River Centre Convention Center. The two associations will be collaborative partners in promoting this joint event, providing members of both groups with a one-stop shopping experience for specialty toys, gifts and educational games.

“We are delighted to be working with ASTRA to provide our members with a high-quality trade show that will help them expand beyond educational items and increase year-round sales,” said Tim Holt, NSSEA president and CEO.

“We are delighted to welcome NSSEA members to our annual event, and we look forward to working with the NSSEA staff to develop a Marketplace that increases the value for all our members,” said ASTRA President Kathleen McHugh.

ASTRA’s 2008 event, its 16th annual, will host approximately 300 retailers, reps and manufacturers at the MGM Grand Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut, June 22 through 25. Exhibiting manufacturers will fill 100 more booth spaces than they did last year for a total of 300 booths.

NSSEA, founded in 1916, will continue to produce its annual trade show Ed Expo, the industry’s largest back-to-school buying show, and The School Equipment Show, the furniture fair for educational facilities.
